Diets For Teens
Diets for teens often include junk food and soda - a combination that is causing many teens to become overweight. In order for teenagers to be healthy and stay healthy, they need to maintain a healthy weight. It is not just for the sake of vanity that you should avoid obesity, but for the sake of general health. Diets for teens should include vitamins as well as vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
What many people do not realize is that teens have a very high metabolism rate. This makes it easier for them to control their weight than it does for older people. Older people and teens can eat the same amount of calories and the teens will not gain the same amount of weight. As we get older, our metabolism slows down and we tend to have a harder time to get the weight off. What is important to understand is that the longer someone remains obese, the more of an impact it has on their body as well as their health. Obesity is linked to a number of different diseases including heart disease, diabetes and even some cancers. The longer someone stays obese, the harder it is for him or her to take the weight off and the more of an impact it can have for their future life. That is why it is so important to understand about diets for teens and make sure that they eat a healthy diet.
The good news is that diets for teens tend to work quicker than they would on an adult as the teens are usually much more active. It is good advice to blend diets for teens with physical activity so that the teenagers can burn off excess calories. The bad news is that diets for teens often work too well and that the teens may develop anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder that usually affects young women and teenaged girls. A girl who has a low self esteem in the midst of changes may discover that the one thing that she can control is her weight and may see herself as fat, even as she is wasting away. This is why diets for teens should be sensible, but parents should discourage excessive diets and starvation diets. If a parent feels that their teen is not eating after they have lost weight and feel good on a diet, they need to step in and make sure that they are not starving themselves.
Diets for teens can eliminate sugary drinks such as sodas, fruit juices and other drinks that are pretty much nothing more than liquid candy and replace them with water. Just by switching to water and eliminating fast foods, you will see diets for teens working. Unlike adults, most teens will take off the weight quickly by switching to sensible diets for teens that eliminate fast foods and sodas.
